Tala joined the team at Camelspace over 14 years ago. The very first scaffolder to join the business, he became Operations Manager for the Auckland branch in 2013 and now looks after a team of around 40 scaffolding staff.

Splitting his time between site visits and the office, Tala is involved in every project the Auckland branch undertakes. He’s responsible for logistics, allocating crews to jobs, supervising on-site operations, and occasionally gets hands-on moving gear from site to site when timeframes are tight. He works closely with the sales team when new projects are being scoped and priced and once the contracts are in place, it’s Tala who ensures budgets are adhered to and projects run within the estimates provided to clients. With a multitude of jobs happening around the city at any one time, he is a master of scheduling, ensuring each job has the necessary crew numbers and skills and everyone knows where they need to be and what’s happening on any given day.

Tala had been a scaffolder for four years before joining Camelspace and spent the first two years of his career as a lifeguard at Mangere Pools. Life outside work revolves and his family. Weekends – and some weeknights – are full with kids’ sports. Tala also coaches his daughter’s basketball team.
